Local & US Missions

Samaritan’s Feet

Samaritan’s Feet began in 2003 by Manny Ohonme who received his first pair of shoes from a missionary when he was a child in Nigeria. Those shoes allowed him to learn and play the game of basketball, which ultimately earned him a scholarship to college in the United States. Manny went on to receive his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and pursued a corporate career. A simple pair of shoes and the kindness and compassion shared by this “Good Samaritan” changed the course of Manny’s life.  Samaritan’s Feet’s mission is to bring that same message of hope that Manny received as a child to other children and adults in the United States and around the world.

Mt Olivet partners with other local churches to host shoe distributions, where individuals spend a few minutes with a volunteer who will wash his or her feet and place a new pair of athletic shoes and socks on their feet. Samaritan’s Feet’s greatest desire is that those few moments of encouragement and a new pair of shoes will act as a reminder that each person is
loved and that there is a special plan for all of our lives.
